The planned donations by Andreessen and Horowitz, who run the eponymous VC firm behind influential startups like OpenAI, SpaceX and Anduril, would add to the number of big-name tech investors and executives that have lined up to support the former president. Neither Andreessen or Horowitz have previously said publicly they would support Trump.

It was unclear which PAC the two men would put money behind. The New York Times reported Monday night that venture capitalist Joe Lonsdale would help lead a PAC that is likely to draw support from Elon Musk. The Wall Street Journal reported Musk plans to donate $45 million a month to the PAC.
Andreessen and Horowitz told employees in recent days they expect the Trump administration to more lightly regulate industries like cryptocurrency, in which their firm is heavily invested, said one of the people. Andreessen and Horowitz have donated more than $30 million combined to pro-crypto super PACs over the past year, public records show.
Andreessen on X earlier this month said that the firm would support political candidates who promote policies in favor of startups. Horowitz wrote on a blog post in December: “We are non-partisan, one issue voters: If a candidate supports an optimistic technology-enabled future, we are for them. If they want to choke off important technologies, we are against them.”
