As automakers race to convert their fleets to electric vehicles, established companies and startups have proposed hundreds of factories to supply them with batteries. Many of these factories will never be built, for lack of financing, expertise or demand. To sort out which are real and which are pipe dreams, we‘ve built a database of announced gigafactories in North America and Europe. The Electric’s Steve LeVine assessed the likelihood each will get built. Check back often, we‘ll update the database as plans evolve.
